Montessori School of Waukesha (MSOW) is seeking a dedicated and collaborative Upper Elementary Lead Teacher (ages 9–12 years) for the 2026–27 school year. This position is available due to an internal staff promotion, and we are prepared to make a competitive offer as soon as the right candidate is identified.
Founded in 1964, MSOW is Wisconsin's first and only school accredited by the American Montessori Society (AMS). Position Overview
The Upper Elementary Lead Teacher will guide approximately 28 students in a fully equipped Montessori classroom with outdoor access. Each classroom community is supported by a full-time paraprofessional, allowing teachers meaningful opportunities for lesson preparation, observation, and individualized student support.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required
- AMS or AMI Upper Elementary credential preferred
- Candidates currently enrolled in a MACTE-accredited Montessori training program are encouraged to apply
- Traditional educators interested in Montessori education are welcome to apply
- Wisconsin teaching license preferred, or willingness to pursue licensure with school support

MSOW has a strong track record of helping talented, student-centered educators successfully transition into Montessori teaching. Many teachers find Montessori education aligns naturally with learner-driven, inquiry-based, and project-based approaches. Educators who demonstrate a strong fit for our philosophy may receive support from an experienced in-house instructional coach while completing Montessori credentialing. MSOW significantly subsidizes Montessori training through the Graduate Montessori Education Institute (GMEI), a MACTE-accredited teacher education program affiliated with the American Montessori Society (AMS) and operated by Montessori School of Waukesha. About MSOW
MSOW operates 14 classroom communities, including toddler, Children's House, Lower Elementary, Upper Elementary, and Middle School programs. Compensation
Salary range starts at $48,000 to $55,000 with additional consideration given based on experience and credentials.
